Areas of use

Walnuts can be consumed either dry or fresh. Generally, shelled walnuts are preferred but with the development of pre-packaged food naked walnuts have risen in popularity as well. Walnut light halves are generally preferred as a snack while walnut light quarters and pieces are usually used in the pastry business. It is not only the walnut itself that can be used. The leaves of the tree and even the timber can be used in many different industries. The green, unripe walnuts may for example be used in medicine while its shells and leaves are used for dyes and the timber is used to make furniture. Walnut oil is very beneficial too and any organic walnut producer will confirm.
